For most of us a morning without caffeine must seem like an impossible idea. How else will you tolerate everything around you otherwise, right?
We over-consume and often forget that it has harmful effects that can lead to certain illnesses.
Read here about what over-consumption of caffeine can lead to:
Increased Heart Rate
Drinking coffee regularly causes release of stress hormones like cortisol, epinephrine and nor epinephrine. These substances lead to increase in heart rate and blood pressure.
Caffeine inhibits the activity of a neurotransmitter called adenosine, which is responsible for our sleep. Hence, over consumption of caffeine can lead to insomnia.
Caffeine leads to triggered gastric emptying which results in highly acidic stomach contents going into the small intestine faster than usual and hence leading to ulcers.
Caffeine is known to relax the esophagus and thus leads to gastroesophageal reflux. This can either lead to or trigger heart burn.
Caffeine addiction occurs because caffeine first creates the feeling of craving and then it becomes a chemical that body needs to prevent withdrawal symptoms such as headaches, lethargy and depression.
