Health Conditions: Lactose intolerance
Lactose intolerance is a condition wherein one is unable to digest the lactose that is present in dairy products. Lactose is also referred to as milk sugar. This condition develops due to a deficiency of enzyme called lactase, an enzyme that is produced by the cells that line the wall of the small intestine.
This condition leads to diarrhoea, gas and abdominal cramps. These symptoms usually manifest themselves within 30 minutes to 2 hours after consumption of dairy products.
