Health Conditions: Mumps

Mumps is a viral infection that affects the salivary glands. These glands are situated under the jaw and on both sides of the face under the ears.
The infection can cause these glands to swell & thereby a swelling of cheeks, neck or throat can be seen in the patient. This makes it difficult for the patient to speak or swallow food & water.
This disease usually affects children & is also accompanied by symptoms such as vomiting, diarrhoea, headaches, fever and sore throat.
