Health Conditions: Oral candidiasis

Oral candidiasis or oral thrush is an infection of the mouth caused by overgrowth of yeast. This condition leads to painful white lesions inside the mouth.
People who have high blood sugar levels have a tendency to develop this infection as the excess sugar promotes growth of yeast. Also, consuming antibiotic drugs or birth control pills is known to kill the good bacteria in the mouth which otherwise prevents yeast growth in the region. People who wear dentures also have a higher risk of developing oral thrush.
