Health Conditions: Sore Throat

Sore throat refers to the scratchiness, tenderness, pain and irritation of the throat that usually escalates when one swallows food or water.
It usually accompanies a viral infection like cold. However, a sore throat can also be a result of a bacteria infection or occur due to exposure to excessive dust, smoke, fumes, or anything else that irritates the sensitive mucus membranes at the back of the throat and mouth.
