Health Conditions: Sunburn
Sunburn is skin damage caused by overexposure to ultraviolet rays from the sun. It causes the outer layer of the skin to turn red, painful & at times swollen.
Melanin, a pigment in the skin, protects the skin from UV damage & also lends the skin its color. The melanin levels are lower in people with fair skin & which is what makes them more prone to getting sunburned. Frequent sunburns can increase one’s risk of suffering from skin cancer.
